Instrukce k soutěži

A start-up brand called "George + Lance" - centred around the legend of St. George and the Dragon.

The logo and entries should be in *Black and White* only. Entries that use visualisations (even below a black and white image) will be removed.

The logo should feature the wording "George + Lance" - ideally in some hipster style, quirky handwritten font, with the graphics playing around/next to it.

The logo graphics should feature a knight in armour, with a lance and shield, fighting or slaying a dragon.

Clarification of Ideas:
Perhaps the "+" in the logo should "echo" the cross on the shield of the knight... it would be useful if the "George + Lance" could be used on its own at times, without having to have all the detail of a knight.

The logo should be 1-inch high (25mm) by 3-inches wide (75mm) - it is essential to understand this logo will be debossed into the leather. Therefore, no single line width should be any thinner than 0.3mm when at that scale or the brand will not emboss correctly into the leather, the thinness of the line will merely cut through the grain and damage the surface.

    Is it ok with you if they just copy-paste images from the net (copyright infringement) LOL!, or submit an original design? Lots of copy-paste bandits here, like for #95 for example, copied from 2 different sources, (dragon - https://openclipart.org/detail/301482/tribal-dragon-sol), (Knight - https://www.vectorportal.com/StockVectors/Clip-art/KNIGHT-SILHOUETTE/20894.aspx)... anyway they will be reported..

      fair enough.. also anyone can say that the image/clipart is theirs.. just look at #91 and #98 , both have copied the same dragon, LOL!

      Indeed, if the clip art is declared. Acceptable. However, I believe the point being made here with regard to the entries specified - the clip art has clearly not been declared. Or anything of the sort. The entries need to be withdraw, voluntarily or else Freelancer will have to come in and delete them for the entrant. The problem that leaves however is why - after being informed of the clear terms violation - the offending entries not only remained in the contest but remained highly marked. From a certain external perspective, such could be mistaken as encouragement. Lying about ones ownership of material submitted to these things technically speaking isn't copyright theft, its fraud. Fraud generally isn't a thing Freelancer particularly smiles on at the best of times. And neither should anyone else. Our terms of membership expressly forbid it.

    Hi, I have the question,
    What do you think about the use of a graphics which isn't made by the person who posted it here?
    I mean, do you absolutely require an original work or are you okay with the things like #4 where the graphucs is obviously stolen from the net?
    Just to clarify this from the very beginning... Thank you for your answer.

      @Yury - : )... It was a very good point you raised, Yury. Well worth making. Why more people don't take advantage of the new declaration option - given it saves people from committing fraud - I largely hope its down to language and simply not realizing it's there. As to fonts - hell, yes. It's like there's a blind spot. Before any Contest Holder leaves with any design requiring the use of fonts - from any platform - it's essential they get the name, location of where the fonts distributed and a copy of the font designers EULA before any commitment is made, so as the Contest Holder doesn't walk out of here straight into a liability.

      The difficulty you get generally trying to explain that to anyone round here....

      I also think that mockup entries should be forbidden unless asked from the CH. Visually enhance the logos and when the CH chooses a design he likes with a mockup, the delivery is by far worse than the one he saw :) Im talking in general for any contest not for this one. Bangladesh, Pakistan and India based designers use stolen designs, put them on mockup (which makes the google algorithm useless for searching that logo) and win a contest, then after the delivery is finished the CH finds out that the logo he chose already exists and is copyrighted ( i saw multiple contests like this where the CH comments on the winning entry that he will ask for his money back from freelancer). once again sorry for writing this here but I had to do it since I saw too many like these in 3 weeks of working @freelancer
