Essay 2: Case Study (20%)
In this essay, you will pick a subject (another living human) and analyze their happiness/life satisfaction level. How happy is the person (very happy, moderately happy, moderately unhappy, unhappy, very unhappy)? Do some research online to find a happiness scale to help you assess them. It will benefit you to pick an interesting person who has “survived” some moderate to major conflicts in life. This semi-comprehensive report should give us the person’s “story” of their major conflict/illness/injury and analyze at least 3 areas (work, relationships, health, spirituality, mental health, etc.) that are causing them problems. It should end with a plan for making them happier, solve the conflict, etc. The idea is to take the perspective of a scientist, journalist, therapist of some sort, or other professional who is letting the world know via journal or magazine article what we can all learn from this person (which is your thesis). You will need to cite two sources in researching their conflict. Please check Titanium for articles on happiness. You may also cite our text(s).
