ejabbered tweaking

We have a working ejabberd VM which implements a Perl bot. The Perl bot works fine and is able to interact with XMPP clients already by processing XMPP messages being sent towards it. Now, I would like to add a listening port to the configuration so that we can interact with the same Perl bot using HTTPS calls. That's it. The listening port might already be up as I saw in the configuration file, but I need to know how to use it, e.g. what is the correct URL and parameters I need to send for testing and how secure this access is.
