Professional and Managerial Skills Project Management Report Briefing

Objective of the assessment:  To define the project life cycle for a chosen project  To recognise the importance of the planning process as part of the project management process of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & controlling and closing.  Able to select the necessary tools in the relevant knowledge areas (scope, time, cost, human resources, communication, stakeholders, risk, quality, and procurement) in order to draft an outline of a project management plan.  Write a 3,100 word document (diagrams and references are not part of the word count) that includes the following: A timeline for the lifecycle (starting the project, organizing and preparing, carrying out the work, closing the project) of project management process An outline of a project plan based on the process groups (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and control and closing) highlighting the knowledge areas. Part 1: (~350 words)  Provide a brief description/summary of the project  Define the lifecycle of the project  Develop an estimated timeline for the lifecycle of the overall project (starting the project, organizing and preparing, carrying out the work, closing the project). Part 2 (~2,750 words)  Write a project plan based on the management project process groups (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and control and closing)  You must include the 4 knowledge areas project scope, time cost & quality. The other knowledge areas are optional.  Include headings for each section and indicate the group member who wrote/ contributed the section. Other issues related to the report: Accountability  In each section indicate under the heading which group member(s) wrote the section  If there are any issues with the group members, notify your workshop leader promptly  Final grades can be adjusted for individuals based on their level of participation (between 0% of the total awarded mark for those do not contribute to above 100% for those who contributed more than their fair share of the mark) Report presentation and references  For full guidance on these aspects, see the Study Direct site section on Technical Communication skills  At your level, your references should be in the correct format for both in text citations and the bibliography.
