Hi,

News About Dogs (US-related)
There were 5,581 cases of dog attacks to letter carriers last year, but the US Postal Service is not keen on using drones to make letter deliveries safer for mailmen.
This was the statement made by Linda DeCarlo, Postal Service Manager of Safety and Health. She added that introducing the use of mail delivery aircrafts which are remotely controlled can also introduce problems. Drones can be bitten by dogs, and they can be stolen by the residents. The humming sound can also make the dogs either playful or frightened, and may cause the attack.
DeCarlo said if the problem on dog attacks to postal workers continues, mail services to residents in areas with many unrestrained dogs may be suspended.
However, even if the Postal Service does not agree with the use of drones in mail deliveries, two agencies, the UPS and FedEx, have already announced last year that they are considering embracing the unmanned aircraft.
Houston has the most cases of dog attacks to letter carriers, with 63 last year, followed by Los Angeles (61), Cleveland (58), and San Diego (53), according to the statistics shown by the USPS. This report was released before the event which marks the National Dog Bite Prevention Week, which began May 18.
