String editing program--GCC compatible

I am looking for a basic string editing program that receives input from and outputs to the terminal. These strings will have alphanumeric characters with the last characters of the string being integers. The ideal program would have the user supply the first string element and define the total number elements to be modified. The program should then be able to create an array of n elements with the integer portion of the string incremented by 1, so if I were to supply the program with "Terminal101" and defined 16 elements total, it would automatically build the array from "Terminal101" to "Terminal116". The program would then prompt the user for a character string to prepend the original input string with, if any, and then prompt the user for a character string to append the original input with, if any. Any appended character string should be placed before the integer in the output. All strings will be edited exactly the same. The basic syntax and format of the output would look like : input(n)=[prependedString]input[appendedString](n);input(n+1)=[prependedString]input[appendedString](n+1);... etc. with semicolons and no spaces separating each expression. So going back to the first example if I wanted to prepend 0135_ to all strings: Terminal101=0135_Terminal101;Terminal102=0135_Terminal102;... Or if I wanted to append Unit to all strings: Terminal101=TerminalUnit101;Terminal102=TerminalUnit102;... Or if I wanted to do both: Terminal101=0135_TerminalUnit101;Terminal102=0135_TerminalUnit102;...
