Hi, I have done many data and database migrations successfully. I have migrated on-premise databases to Amazon and Azure clouds. Hi I have been working with MSSQL for over 15 years. I am fully experienced as a developer and a DBA. Currently I am working at big financial organization in which I am responsible for the BI department. I have designed and the Developed the Organization’s Reporting Database which has been constructed with SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. The database is being updated daily from the core system with txt or excel files via SSIS or with direct connection at mainframe’s DB2 and a numerous of KPIS are being daily updated during the ETL. For isolation reasons the KPIS are replicated to another DB (with transactional replication) which exploits the reports via SSRS to the consumers. Some KPIS are being replicated with merged (bidirectional) replication. Also, 10 Cubes in SSAS are being daily automatically processed and the end of the ETL. Several other reports are daily automatically produced and sent via email to the recipients. Finally I have designed and developed the bank’s crm DB which is published on the intranet. The DB holds full information about the customers (Customers,Addresses , Financial Data , Contacts , campaigns , etc) and covers 4 countries. To achieve this i have made partitions over the country code. The size of the Reporting DB, is about 4TB and consists of about 4.000 objects and the replicated KPI DB is 350GB. Best Regards mpalgeo

How would you assimilate an existing database into a new database? Answer: The old data needs to be mapped with the new database schema and a script needs to be coded to convert from older schema to new schema. I must tell you that no database migration is of 2-5 hours job unless the database size is very small. However, we can create SSIS packages for your database in 4-5 hours and then it's upto the database size, how much time package takes to migrate the data.

Hello, Migrating databases can never be like copy pasting .csv file which supports no information required in databases. This leads to database crashes often. SO, My recommendation is NEVER go for .csv option for sound amount of data migration. Key things : 1. Experience : 5yrs as a Database Administrator 2. Communication : Fluent (User friendly but Professional) 3. Turn around time (quicker is better) : Depends on size of your Database as backups and copying Data takes time. 4. Price : Negotiable 5. Ability to answer this question: How would you assimilate an existing database into a new database? : If the New database is freshly installed and empty then Database CLone would be efficient option. There are some migration tools between database. There is nothing awfully it simple work. Just need excellent connection between two database.
