Deliverables: The design must be a continuous or highly quantized speed control for universal motors. I must be able to run it at55%, 56%, 57%, etc. of maximum output. 1 prototype universal motor speed control design Tests showing that the universal motor speed controller will enhance motor life proportional to its output (I.E. running the motor at half speed will double the life) 1 working diagram with all necessary components and relevant data detailed. Speed control needs to work with motors up to and including 2500 watts, 120VAC, or 220-240VAC, and 16 amps. Who I need: Looking for an electrical engineer or ECE. This is phase 1 of a 3 phase project. If the skillset of the selected engineer matches phase 2, they may be selected for that as well. Current status of the project: I currently have universal motor speed control via a Triac that uses phase angle firing to control power flow. Although it controls speed, it does not improve overall motor life or cycle life. This project is to find a speed control method that enhances motor life.

Hi there I am an Electrical Engineer with expertise in electrical machine and power electronics. As you need to enhance the motor life and at the same time a flexible speed control. We can work on that, as i have past experience in speed control of an universal motor. As you are using triac it may have some difficulty in flexible speed control. We need to add either an extra triple five timer to get more flexible speed control. We will be creating timing pulses using a comparator to get gate pulses for triac. For detail contact in person.

Using your motor info, and process variables. To size a VFD. Depending on local or remote operation Analog speed control I/O configuration may be necessary. I need a little more detail.
