Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to introduce myself: my name is Roberto, 42 years old, married; born in Brazil, Portuguese is, of course, my mother tongue. About twenty years ago and for almost six years, to make extra money while working as a system administrator and programmer, I started doing some tech editing/proofreading of books on computer science topics (published in English by houses such as Coriolis, NewRiders, and Pearson) or translated from English to Portuguese. Moreover, I myself wrote five pocketbooks on the same topics in Portuguese for Novatec Editora, a Brazilian publishing house. I hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (obtained in France in 2011; my thesis was written in English with a resumé in French) and teach Physics and Engineering courses (Thermodynamics, Solid State, Phase Diagrams, Transport Phenomena, etc) at the university level in my home country since I came back in 2012. Regarding my research and the corresponding communications, I am the co-author of 20 scientific papers in my field, all of them, of course, in English.
Recently, I decided, once again to make extra money, to get back on business as a freelancer, providing translation, proofreading and technical editing services. I’m willing to dedicate 8-12 hours a week for working in arriving projects. Additional information about my qualifications and skills will be provided if necessary.
Yours sincerely,
Roberto
