I am experienced with working with access databases in combination with excel and vb code. I am pretty well versed in working with sql in general, both for querying, as well as inserting. I am not familiar with australian law on parental leave though. but I am sure we can define the details.

This should be a fairly simple database. sounds like three tables, an entry form for each and a couple of queries. I would need a sample of the data, or at least a rough sketch of what you want the outputs to look like before I can be sure exactly what's needed, but nothing in the description raises any concerns for me.
