We are working at the University of Lausanne with wild barn owls. We gather scientific data in the field and to be able to perform statistical analyses all the data are compiled in an ACCESS database. We have now to consolidate this database by creating supporting tools and software to replace the current manual process. The work to be done may last 6 months with the following goals: • Meetings; both on-side and tele-conference to discuss functionality • Consolidation of the many versions of Access databases into a single database, using a better RDBMS like MySQL (choice depends on what licenses UNIL have) • Building Import tools for consolidating the existing data • Export tools to allow existing staff a smooth changeover period :-in parallel-: • Develop web-based tools to allow full management of the database, example tasks: - o Individuals search and edit o Dynamic query builder tools – allowing users to slice/search the content they need o Management of sites o Data analysis – flag up potential warnings o Worklists • Integrations with external partners –formatting data as per requirements • Support and training to both demonstrate how the new tools work; and how to migrate from the older system to the new in the best way • UI/UX development • Documentation I am thus looking for quotes to perform this work. I am applying for the first part (if you are interested) and that is to consolidate all your MS Access database into one single SQL database. It can be MySQL of course, if you want. What you will need then is a web-programmer to create a web-interface only.
