This bid is for the first part only. i would use a web scraper tool i have, and write a vbsript to control its activities. i am capable of submitting login details, and extracting data from web-sites (where permissable). the extracted data may be stored in any format on windows. the second part of your requirements is also very doable and is also probably around $500. everything is yours to own at the end of the project.

I work with a real estate development company based in Manhattan. We are constantly trying to do research into different real estate markets, and this involves tons of mindless data entry and retrieval. To streamline our efforts, I have thought up the following application. I don't know how difficult it would be to implement, or the best technology to do the job, but I am hoping that you guys can make suggestions. Here is the idea: we need a script/program that will autmatically: 1) Take a query (this could be a zipcode, an address, a property type, a price range, etc, and any combination of these). 2) Log on to a website that has a database of current and completed real estate transactions. The one we have been using recently is www.propertyline.com. This site has downloadable pdf reports for each property which give various types of information. The script would autmomatically crawl through the site downloading these pdfs and giving them appropriate filenames (and do this in such a way that the site doesn't ban us for crawling them). 3) The script would then process these pdfs and dump the data into a custom designed excel spreadsheet that would list all of the information in the proper column (such as price, lot #, and computed columns such as price per square foot). This completes one part of my envisioned program. The other part would be an interface with google maps/driving directions, which would automatically create google map queries and print the results to pdf. These queries would give us the ability to get a map with each property listed and the distance from each property to any other or to some reference point(s). The idea is for us to quickly see the spacial relations between different properties. For example, it could give us a map with the one of the properties and all of the walmarts in the area, so we can see whether a walmart would make sense on that property. The other part of the mapping component would be the creation of a map with selected properties that could be dynamically annotated with the columns of a spreadsheet (an example of this would be a column we might add to a speradsheet that had recent rental rates for that region.
