I need some help (i.e., working proof of concept) with a particular way of using Office XP Web Components (OWC10) spreadsheets. For background, I have an ASP application that makes calls to a VB6 COM DLL (that contains most of the code for the entire application). Specically, I need an ASP page (say, [login to view URL]) that contains two frames (say [login to view URL] and [login to view URL]). [login to view URL], upon opening, should load a spreadsheet via XMLURL (e.g., [login to view URL] = “[login to view URL]"). In general, from there the user can enter information into the spreadsheet (actually the first worksheet within the workbook). For our proof of concept, we’ll assume that the user will enter a list of names ??" first name in Column A and last name in Column B. When complete, the user should be able to click on a “Calculate?? button that is contained within frame_left.asp. The “Validate?? button should simply loop through the rows of the spreadsheet, concatenate first name and last name, and store the results in the Column C so that the user can see the concatenation completed in from of him/her. (I realize that, in this case, I could merely include a formula within the worksheet to handle the calculation; however, in the future and through this proof of concept, I intend to use this method/architecture to handle more complex items like data validation and saving data to a SQL Server database.) It seems that the trick here is that I need everything written in ASP (not JavaScript) so that it can be ported to my COM DLL that is written in VB6. Plus, I’m less experienced in JavaScript and will have difficulties supporting it going forward. UPDATED: I’ve included sample files to the bid request. The sample files are derived from those that are installed along with Office XP Web Components ToolPak. I’ve only slightly changed walkthroughs\[login to view URL] (which is a frameset containing two other html files). I basically want to accomplish [login to view URL] without using JavaScript to control the ActiveX component.
