I would like to have an excellent looking program that will act as a multi format library, similar to itunes. I would like it to have many of the same feautures as Delicious Library. It has to be able to use a web cam to scan sku's, it must automaticaly retrieve info from movie databases (similar to gracenote (maybe imdb idk)). It would have to automatically import artwork. I would like to be able to import actual movie files seamlessly through the program. It would have to bypass the copyright protection on a dvd. It will have to import at dvd quality, preferably in mpg4 format (for ipods). Size is not an issue, it would import the files to external storage. It would have to autmaticaly sync with and ipod too. For books it should be able to syncronise with a scanner and somehow recognize the text, (maybe ocr?). Then it should put the text into a .txt file, or some kind of rss feed, or IDK, whatever. All of these files should be indexed or something to be easily searched, similar to itunes. One should also be able to add their own tags, comments, ratings, etc. Once again it has to look nice. One should be able to view all the titles in not only an itunes like list, but also in a movie/book cover "shelf". It should also be able to play the files in a full screen mode, this way one can use their pc as a "multi-media machine".
It would be nice if the program could export everything to a what im listining to blog, prob through rss, or something. This way one could add to their webpage what they are viewing, or new and recomended things.
I know this is prob really hard, but I was just wondering how much it would cost. Again sorry I don't know much about how this would work, or how much work it would be. But this project could be made open source. If ever finished I would like it to be freeware, so the coder can't have issues with copyrights or anything.
