Learning Management System

We require the custom development/expansion of a Learning Management System (LMS) based on the open source software [login to view URL] Moodle is built on PHP and MySQL. The purpose of the software is to allow an administrator to create online courses wihch can then be accessed online by students (customers). Customers can either self-register or be registered by the administrator to complete the courses online. Customers pay for this facility, therefore there will be "generic" courses as well as some courses that are tailored to the customer such as adding their branding or changing course content/successful completion requirements etc. At this stage, due to the complexity involved in such a project, we are seeking a ballpark estimate on costs and timeframes only (however please ensure sufficient contingency padding is added) so that we can give the client an indicative idea of costs. Attached is a brief from our client that provides background and information on what we are seeking. The red headings are highlighted as major elements to factor into your estimate. If required, the project can be developed in multiple stages (with the first stage going live and further stages being integrated later). The key first stage elements are: * Allow admins to create, copy, delete, edit new courses quickly and easily. * Allow each course to have multiple "slides" which are individual pages of content such as text, images, videos and audio files (all hosted locally). These individual aspects can be enabled/disabled per slide. * Each course may be accessed by a single customer or by an entire organisation with up to 10,000 staff. Each of these individuals would require their own login to the website, but registered under their company. This means that an individual could log into the website and view a list of all courses that they are permitted to see and complete. * Reporting features on each course, such as: show admin creator username, date customer received course, course name(s), date customer started, if completed and if not what slide they are up to (current system does this as a basic and ugly spreadsheet, so this needs to be online instead). * Customisable email templates when contacting a customer to advise them of their new course login page/username etc * Ability to print certificates for successful course completions. * Refer to attachment for further details. Thorough documentation and training will also be required. The software will be web-based and must be cross-platform. The idea is to use a responsive framework such as Foundation or Bootstrap in order to use the software on any device without requiring a downloadable app. We require a rough estimate on costs and timeframes by 10am Friday 24 January 2014.
