Boot Manager with partition hiding for XP/2003

The objective of this project is to replace DriveImage 7 with Norton Ghost. Drive Image 7 can reboot the PC from within Windows and run a image save or image load then return to windows. Norton Ghost cannot do this so I guess Symantec just have to buy the company that makes Drive Image 7 (PowerQuest). The boot manager can help to resolve this, by selectively hiding unused partitions and set the unhidden partition active. The problem is, how do we tell the boot manager what to reveal and what to hide? We can use lilo or grub for example, but school PCs must be locked down. The proposed solution is to use the filecreateddate property. The 'boot manager ini' file can be on any partition but the app must use the latest one. The first partition on the disk is Windows XP (or 2003). Windows XP must not see the second, very small partition running IBM DOS. The installation program must run under Windows. The app must use the settings in c:\[login to view URL] to choose which partition to boot.
