InhFac Inhalation Exposure Module

We require an MS-Access database to store experimental data, as well as a spreadsheet tool to upload data to the database and the ability to export user-specified fields. This description is for the first version of this tool; we expect that upon completion of this project, the coder will be prepared to work on version 2. This description is not intended to be exhaustive ??" it is a first draft. We expect, in conversation with the coder, to identify a further 25-50 fields for version 1. We will gladly discuss the logistics of the experiments with the successful coder, to assist in developing the tables and relationships within the database. OVERVIEW of the Application: - Animals (mice, rats, etc) are bought from a store - These animals are given a unique identifier and put into some kind of cage for a few weeks. We want to track the type of cage, the type of bedding, the type of food etc that each animal receives during this time. - Our lab performs “inhalation exposures??: groups of animals, from 1 to 200 animals, are put into a “chamber?? and exposed to a test compound. They are removed from their earlier housing and moved to the chamber, which contains their new housing: at this point, bedding, toys etc may change. - Exposure take place for a few hours/day, but animals stay in the chamber. We need to track some information for each inhalation exposure, such as the compound name, its concentration, who was the operator etc. All of the animals in a particular chamber are subjected to the same compound, concentration and operator, but may have different food, toys, bedding etc. - Also, animals are weighed sometimes; bedding, toys or food might be changed at some point, and the animal’s location within the chamber can change. Some animals become injured and require treatment. Animals are removed from the chamber and necropsied on different dates. We will provide sample data to the successful coder. ## Deliverables i) MS-Access database to store the data, it being understood that version 2 will require expansion of the database. ii) Excel spreadsheet containing multiple pages, used to enter the data for upload to the database, with clearly identified page names and column names etc. Once the data has been uploaded, confirm the upload by identifying the row as “upload complete??; then, this data may remain in the spreadsheet without it being uploaded again, and causing duplication. iii) Excel spreadsheet or other mechanism for queries on the database which will export the results of the query to an excel spreadsheet, for graphing etc. User should be able to select the fields of interest, and the order in which to export to Excel; the database should fill in the table automatically. [login to view URL] list of animals, food type and dates [login to view URL] examples can be provided on demand. iv) Coder to provide, along with his bid, the expected delivery date of the first iteration of this app, and the expected turn-around time to provide the final installment after receiving our comments. v) Ability to view graphs included as images in the database and as usual: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S./Canada Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
