Machinery Simulation

Upon Acceptance Winning bidder will provide a fully functional simulation of an Oil Drilling rig, complete with all floor equipment and Well control systems. There will be a secondary job for Boom crane simulation if the first is completed satisfactorily. Bidders must submit examples of their work for testing/analysis before bid is awarded. Quality of graphics, operational smoothness, stability and precision of simulation will all be determining factors.

Upon awarding the bid, Base 3D graphics in .max format will be supplied for most, if not all, of the equipment but winning coder must have the capability to enhance quality of graphics AND generate missing graphics from mechanical drawings and vendor documentation.

While the examples or demo's must run on a single mid-range PC ([url removed, login to view] P4 or better) the final project will have more leeway as to hardware. Bids must however specify minimum required hardware expected to competently run the final project.

1 Year of software maintenance/upgrade (Not to exceed the scope of the original project) should also be factored into the bid. Ideally the finished project will not require significant "bug fixes" or modifications.

This is a long term project and winning coder will, upon satisfactory completion, be the preferred vendor for future simulation projects.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

In reading the bids and comments it seems that some bidders don't fully grasp the concept of the project. This is an INTERACTIVE simulation. The finished product needs to respond to inputs from pre-defined controls in EXACTLY the way that the physical equipment will. The trainee using this software must, after a short immersion period, be fully involved in the simulation. To this end the graphics, physics and precision of movement must be nearly flawless. The well control portion must use correct rheology, hydrodynamics and geologic formation data to respond to generated problems.

This is just the BASIC formulation of the software, the details will be far more numerous and intense. Some of you seem to have grasped the technicial proficiency and expertise it will take to complete this project but others have not.

Please ask questions and understand why I all owed such a long bid period. Take advantage of it.

## Platform

Windows XP Pro

Demos/Examples must run on a single machine, final project may use more equipment as necessary. (Consider 6 3.2 ghz P4 + High end graphics cards as a reasonable requirement)

I would also entertain project development on a cluster of Xbox 360's if you have the capability to do so. Note however that this will NOT be a video game, but a learning/training simulation.
