Alter wordpress search page to search keywords and categories in custom post types and woocommerce products

Hi There I go through project description more than twice. There is one confusion that will be clear after discussion. Is this will be end result : the search results page will show all results that include that search term in the title, description and {{ categories that post/product is assigned to.}} Please reply with answer to let me know if i am correct.

Hi, (by default) only "post" have "categories", custom post type have "taxonomies/terms". That indicates, any of the taxonomy needs to be mapped to be used as category or the "category" need to be registered to custom post type. Definitely, it can be achieved.

Hello! Generally speaking that shouldn't be a problem. There's few things I need you to clarify/elaborate further on though. A) After the modding the results will be ONLY posts(of any type) that are assigned to ANY category that matches the input? That would the "AND" in this "We need the single search box to be able to search both across all post types and products for keywords AND categories for the search term." suggest. That means if no category matches then no product will ever be returned. Is that what you are really after? B) You say 'categories' in general, but then you say those are custom post types as well, and woocommerce products post types too, which means there's multiple 'categories' taxonomies - at least two - teh 'category' taxonomy (wp core) and 'wc_category' which is for the products(in general products are not assigned to the core category taxonomy, unless it's made to do so, but only to wc_category taxonomy. So the question is - in which category taxonomy should it cross-search the posts from? This is a critical aspect because with it being a cross section(due to the variety of post types and category taxonomies present) dependednt on the answer of (A) above, this could lead to grave trouble never ever returning any results from the search,because the particular post type does not belong to teh particular category taxonomy etc. C) Partial matches always satisfy the search against the title/content. The match against categories would be full or?
