I need a script to automate the standard operational procedure “complete pending order”, on my wordpress / woocommerce site.
The script needs to be executed periodically, every 15 minutes, and I need to be able to initiate it manually as well, when necessary. I also need to be able to schedule it. My hosting provider supports cron jobs.
A third party application will insert records in a database table with order ids that needs to be marked as completed. The table will have four columns:
ID: the order id
Status: the status of the record (initially, set to pending)
Datetime: the date/time of creation/modification
Error: if script fails, here is the description of the problem
The script shall check this table for entries with status pending or error, and try to change the corresponding orders’ status to complete, using woo commerce API. Upon success, the scrips shall mark the related record as completed and update the datetime. Upon failure, the script shall mark the related record as failed, update the daytime and store the reason in error field (for example, order id not found)
The deliverables of this project are:
- The script to create the database table
- The script authoring
- The script deployment on the server
- The script scheduling
- Source code
- Brief guidelines on how to run the script manually and how to change schedule
- Testing for the above
