NetSuite supports a web services API, SuiteTalk, which can be accessed from a number of languages, including PHP and Python. A portal-to-NetSuite transaction pump is straightforward to build. It remains to be defined how the connection is managed, and when the transactions are posted to NetSuite. Will the pump be integrated into the portal, and invoked directly when each transaction is created? This design for the pump will be highly dependent on the architecture and implementation of the portal, and will likely require significant changes to the portal code. I'd recommend a different approach: build a pump that runs standalone, independently of the portal, either batching transactions from the portal into NetSuite on a schedule, or acting on notification from the portal of a transaction to be posted. This design is simpler and more modular, can be implemented and maintained separately from the portal, easily allows the portal-and-pump to operate and cache transactions when NetSuite is inaccessible, and introduces minimal changes into the portal, thereby reducing the potential for the pump to break the portal.
