Please read this entire description VERY CAREFULLY.

The project: I had a previous programmer migrate a .net database into Wordpress for use with the bbpress plugin, and after that, I experienced problems with the bbpress plugin.

The problem I am having is with the social media sharing buttons on each bbpress post. They do not work properly with Facebook, LinkedIn, Reddit and Tumblr. The problem is that they don't return sharing pages that contain the posting copy in the best way, in the manner that the same buttons do in the regular blog posting area of my Wordpress site at daretoaks.com. I have the social media buttons showing on each bbpress forum post (for example, [url removed, login to view]), but right now they appear to be sharing the entire page of a thread, not a link to the individual post on each page with a block of the text from that actual post. What I need is for these sharing buttons for bbpress posts to share the posts in the same manner that my posts are shared in the regular blog area (for example, see: [url removed, login to view]).

Look closely at this blog link. See how the headline and then the content of that post appear in the sharing box? That is what I need for bbpress. I don't need the photo, but I do need the headline and text. So, you would need to make it so that the headline and at least the first 200 characters or so of the bbpress forum post appear on Facebook when that post is shared -- and ALSO, that when the post is clicked on in Facebook, it takes you back to that exact post in bbpress (not the top of the thread in bbpress, but the actual post).

In addition, the LinkedIn sharing button for the first post in a thread has a problem sharing the correct posting, and sometimes shares content from the post below it.

READ CAREFULLY:I would like to first get just the Facebook sharing button to work in bbpress. Another programmer who is busy on a different project tells me the following:

"In order to meet the requirement, the programmer will have to integrate each social network's application programming interface (API) manually. Facebook provides everything needed to implement the share functionality. Once API is integrated, every comment will be able to be shared individually, instead of just the link for the entire thread."

The previous programmer was able to get sharing buttons to appear on my bbpress posts, but was unable to make it so that they share the proper material from those posts, in the way that they do for my blog posts. I asked him to tell me exactly what he had tried, in the hopes it would help the next programmer I contacted. That information is below...

Jetpack Plug-in Issues

Plug-in was not generating correct links for the posts and replies.

Plug-in was not generating correct links thus it was also not taking to the respected reply or post of which an ID was clicked.

Plug-in which was sharing the posts and replies was not sharing the correct URL for replies

Plug-in which was sharing the posts and replies was not sharing the respected content of posts and replies.

Linkedin sharing issue.

Solutions Applied

We changed the URL generated by bbPress fro a respective post or a reply. For this we customized the bbpress replies page and added code to change the URL. We have also applied links forcibly but didnt load content in social media widgets.

As we changed the URL in bbPress the second issue automatically got solved.

We changed jetpack’s sharing module namely Sharedaddy to generate correct links to be shared.

To select the content of our own choice we changed the API’s URL used by jetpack to URL which accepted respective content by defining custom services.

Linkedin multiple sharing doesnt allow, aftersome time it blocked the content and it goes blank.
