I'm an engineer. I need to make two scripts.
I have files the need revision level added and moved to a destination folder.
For example, I have named:
I need to move them and add revision level:
where REV are sequential revisions [NEW, A, B, C, D.... etc]
I need two batch scripts:
1. For each file in a working directory, check if this file already exists in a destination directory. If it exist, check the revision of the existing file, add the next level revision to the new file, and move the new file to the destination directory.
2. For each file in a working directory, check if this file already exists in a destination directory. If it exist, check the revision of the existing file, and replace the existing file with the new file, and add the same revision level to it.
Hi, it looks like you are dealing with lots of files.
I can help you with your problem and create the script to automate the process.
I am just confused with 2nd task.
can you please explain with examples?
Hello, I know you asked for it to be done in batch, but I think doing it with another programming language is an easier and more common option.
If that is okay with you, I can create it for you in Python today.
I need to know what operating system you are using (windows or linux or macos)
