UK Criminal Law, Offences Against the Person. Cooper & his gf Anna set up their deck chairs. However, as Cooper went to sit down, another guest Carter, (who didnt like Cooper because he used to bully him at school) pulled the chair away from him. Cooper fell to the ground, but did not sustain any injuries. (ABH/ OAPA) Ryan and his friends organized a game of football. At one point in the game, Barry slide tackled Joey. Barry's football studs slid down the back of Joey's leg causing a cut that requires 3 stitches at the hospital. Ryan's dad Paul, who was acting as the referee, blew the whistle and gave Barry a yellow card. Barry yelled at Paul, "Dont be so blinking soft. You'll need stitches if you come near me again." Barry left the park in a mood and went to see his identical twin brother Frank. Barry let himself into Frank's apartment using the key Frank gave him. He guessed Frank's new gf Rebecca was in bed upstairs after working a night shift at the local factory. Barry went upstairs to let Rebecca know he was in the house. Rebecca, mistaking Barry for Frank, invited him into bed with her. Barry said nothing and got into bed with Rebecca, and the two had sexual intercourse. (Rape? SOA 2003) Katie and Jim, guests at the party, decided to take a walk through the park. Jim & Katie had been dating for one year and Jim wanted to ask Katie to move in with him. He decided that the top of bridge would be a romantic place to ask her. They arrived at the bridge, and saw a notice indicating that the bridge had been damaged in the recent storm. There was no fencing blocking entry on to the bridge however, so the couple decided to walk across it. Unfortunately, the bridge collapsed when they reached the top. Katie and Jim fell into the pond below. Jim hit his head on some rocks and died. (Manslaughter? Homicide?) Jake, Jessi & Ryan's son, attended the fun day with two of his friends, Carson and Bella. The three teenagers, all aged 18, drank 5 cans of beer each. Carson went to get some food and came back to find Jake and Bella kissing. Carson was jealous. He junged at Jake and pinned him against a tree. Jake punched Carson in the face. Carson fell to the floor. Carson picked up a hefty tree branch, stood up and went to hit Jake hard across the head with it, however he hit Bella instead. The blow caused Bella to sustain a fractured skull. The bleed on her brain required emergency, life-saving surgery. The doctors informed her parents that she would need medication for life as a result of her injuries. (ABH, self defense, GBH) After visiting Bella in hospital the following day, Jake was very upset. Seeking revenge, he went to Carson's house and cut the brakes on Carson's sister's car. Jake then went home. He arrived home to find Jessi & Ryan having a frantic argument. Ryan had arrived home to find Jessi in bed with the next door neighbor, Tom. Jessi yelled at Ryan that because he was such a "lousy husband" this wasnt the first time she had cheated on him. Ryan picked a lampshade with a heavy stone base in the hallway and crashed it over Jessi's head. This caused a severe cut to Jessi's head. Jake picked up Jessi and carried her to his car, and drove her to the hospital. Jake got lost on the way to the hospital, causing his mother's condition to deteriorate. At the hospital, doctors told Jessi she needed a blood tranfusion to save her life. On religious grounds, Jessi refused. Jessi later died. (GBH, Homicide/ Manslaughter?) The following day, Carson's sister Tabitha, drove her car to work. As expected, her brakes failed and she crashed the car into a lamp post. Tabitha died as a result of her injuries.
