I had done a data warehouse project about a year ago. It was a java application. I used SQL Server 2008, SQL Management studio and Import export wizard of SQL Server for exporting data from source to destination. Your project is also like that but a bit easy. Because You don't need to make an data warehouse software application. You only need to take data from source , place it in staging area and then load it to your destination database which will in SQL Server. If I am wrong then please correct me for your requirements and You are welcome to discuss details with me.
