Poker is one of the most popular and fun card games in the world. We have an idea that will rock the poker world, and we need an agile developer to help us get this home run to market fast.
Mad Mark’s Game Company is a stealth development operation headed by Mark Gross, co-founder of School Loop, Business 2.0 magazine, and an avid poker player. We have come up with an idea that makes poker even more fun and exciting because it addresses poker player’s secret desires. Our live tests have rocked!
We are looking for a seasoned full stack developer to help us get to market fast. The fundamentals of Texas Hold’em are well known and established. There’s even open source code that is used to teach people java by developing the game. For real!
We expect that you will make the how decisions - the creative side gets that we’re about what, not how. That being said, we are looking to work in vuejs, nodejs (or java) and postgresql (or nosql). If you have a lot of react experience and are willing to learn vuejs for this project, that works too.
We expect that you will work 15hours + a week, and that this gig will be around 100 hours, tops. We would prefer full time. You need to know how to play poker. You don't need to know how to win at poker though! We will need some other services, like setting up AWS. If you can help that's a bonus.
We need you to implement a version of the game fast, and then add to it our secret sauce. Think more agile than agile! We’ve got the basic UX/UI covered. We need a developer with the right attitude - all code is disposable, don’t worry about scale when you don’t have any, willing to use open source libraries just to go fast, and of course, a passion for poker. We will need some help getting AWS up, and possible backfilling with other work, so if you have a small posse that rides with you, all the better.
Compensation is in cash. This job is remote - work from home or wherever. The key is that we want to move as fast as possible to get something live and then go from there. If it takes off, it will be a great ride for everyone.
Bottom line - if you wanna do fun creative coding, get something to market quickly, and work with cool, successful people on a project that, if it flies, will be the talk of the poker world, then bring it on!
