I got my in-plant training for six months in year 2010 assigning to the Asset Management Hydro Electrical Division of Ceylon Electricity Board as an undergraduate.
After graduation, I was appointed as an Electrical Engineer for the construction of Mini hydro Power Plant at Sunshine Power Private Limited, Lindula. .
Then I joined with the DIMO Power Solutions Private Limited as an Electrical Engineer. I was appointed as a Project Engineer for the construction works supervised by the Project Manager, Siemens private Limited India and also involved in the construction works directly handled by Ceylon Electricity Board. During my three months stay at Mathara I was able to work in numerous civil construction, erection and installation of equipments in Mathara grid substation.
Then I got the opportunity to transfer to the Conflict Affected Region Emergency Project in Chunnakam supervised by Ceylon Electricity Board. I was appointed as a Project Engineer for the construction of Chunnakam grid substation.
Thereafter, I have joined with Ceylon Electricity Board as an Electrical Engineer. I was posted to the Transmission Line Construction Projects Unit. During my Seven Years duration at Transmission Line Construction Projects, I was able to get experience of construction of foundation for capacitor bank, erection and installation of capacitor bank and related switchgears and equipments, profile surveying works of transmission line, foundation works for transmission towers, erection of towers and stringing of transmission lines and removal of transmission line and towers.
Afterwards I got the opportunity to design transmission lines. Then I designed several transmission lines for projects such as construction of transmission line to proposed Sooriyawewa grid, Reconstruction of Badulla - Medagama 132kV transmission line, shifting of Embilipitiya Hambantota 132kV transmission line to facilitate clearance to southern highway at Sooriyawea as the responsible design engineer. At present I have been working for design works for Athurugiriya - Kolonnawa 132kV Transmission Line using Gap Type High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductor as a responsible design engineer for transmission line construction projects unit.
Accordingly, I received the good knowledge and first-hand experiences in the areas of Installation of Capacitor Banks, Profile surveying, Transmission Line designing, Transmission Tower Foundation Constructions, Transmission Tower Erection, Stringing of Transmission line conductors, Transmission Line Removal, Transmission Tower Removal, Project management and transmission line construction procedures and engaging in continuous professional development throughout my career.
Recently, I followed a Training course on Stringing of High Temperature Low Sag Conductor at China University of State Grid of China Technology College.
