My client was very dissatisfied with the proposals received. He didn't choose even one. This means that, if one of you proposes an innovative graphic layout, but which is not totally different from the example photo that I have attached, he will surely win the prize.

Graphic design for the "m&redit" covers

For the launch of a new Italian book publishing house, a graphic project is needed which includes a common design and which distinguishes three different series: Narrativa, Saggistica, Varia (fiction, essay, miscellaneous).
The differentiation of the three series (maintaining the identity of the publishing house) is a fundamental element for assigning the work.

ATTENTION!
READ CAREFULLY:
We are NOT looking for a book cover.
We are looking for the cover image of ALL the books from the new publisher. His line of graphics that he will use for all publications.
The photo provided is only an example.
It takes imagination to ONLY conceive the image for ALL the books, which will have to be differentiated into 3 different series by whatever you want (may be color, graphics, etc.)
DO NOT send covers of a single book, send the 3 covers for the 3 series. Thank you!

The graphic project must contain:
- an image (which can be figurative, abstract, horizontal or vertical, but never full page)
- the name of the author
- the title of the volume
- the trademark of m&redit
(For proofing, the pre-approved mark and a stock image are provided)
- the differentiation between the 3 series

The cover format is 130x200 mm (5.5x8 inches).

The back cover must include a shout, a short text, a box for the ISBN code, a small box for indicating the price.

The spine must contain the name of the author, the title of the volume, the logo "m&redit". Obviously it must lend itself to the modification of the width, based on the number of pages of the volume. And it must maintain the differentiation between the three series.

The use of the graphic design must be free for all editorial, advertising and promotional activities. The final work can be transferred to third parties, without any financial obligation towards the author, who will in any case be mentioned in the legal credits.

The delivery of the final materials in indd format is requested.

IMPORTANT: The customer's desire is to have an innovative and high-impact graphic project. Something that, already from the spine of the books, is able to distinguish the publications of this Publishing House from all the others.

Hi CH, do you have a branding guide for the publishing house? perhaps something that was created for you along with your logo? This will help in creating a better design for you. What genre of literature does publishing house specialize in?

Ciao - please clarify a few things. It is possible the translation to English is a bit misleading.
You say in the brief the project is not for a book cover, and then you ask for us to present the three book covers? Is the project for a template to use for the three different book types, and your client then changes the text/image used depending on the book?

Lol ironic how the contest holder literally screamed out "ATTENTION! READ CAREFULLY: ..."

I guess there are some that do and there are some that do... But fortunately some can actually. while the later not.
Seems this is pretty much "hard core "graphic artist" stuff that could/would benefit from print/press experience... Soo it shall filter the un-reading readers along with the un-"graphic designer" designers...

I would so like to follow up on the entries and if possible enter myself.
