Apache and JBoss Tuning on Linux

I tuned my apache,mysql, and jboss server on linux but unfortunately, when a request is made, the port 8009 remains open/established for a long time before it expires. I have httperf installed on a separate server which I use to simulate loads. After simulating up to 2000-3000 the server locks due to numerous port 8009 left established and not getting released in a quick and efficient way. I need an expert in Apache and JBOSS tuning on linux to tune my server. Apache and Jboss are single and they exist on the same server.
