Swoopo Clone Script

I need a swoopo close script coded, something like madbid.com.

It should be able to handle up to 1000 people bidding at any given time.

That's all.

Question: How can I test the script to make sure it is still working properly when there are 1000 people bidding at a given time ?

I am not sure if ASP.NET or PHP is more suitable for this project ? What do you think ?
