We are developing a Document management system. a feature of the system is to extract data from documents such as invoices, and other type of documents. We are using Tesseract for OCR and OpenIMAJ for image processing (e.g, using Stroke Width Transform to find text, Adaptive Thresholding, Noise Removal ). Unfortunately the result is not as good as we wished. So, We want to work with someone who has extensive experience in this area to do the following: 1. write a java code to do image preparation or preprocessing such as image enhancement, removing parts that effect OCR accuracy such as underlines, and text area detection. 2. The text area detection should be with high accuracy and should detect text within tables. text that are near each other should be grouped together. 3. the API should provide a way to navigate the boxes created by text area detection such as next box, boxes in online and so one. 3. the code should be very fast 2. highly preferred to be native Java. Please only reply to this project if you have extensive experience in this area. Therefore, in your reply, please state in high level how you will solve this problem (e,g using openCV) and what is your experience in this area. I will not reply to generic offers.

Hi, My Background: Manager, Designs. Image Processing Expert. I've done real time implementation for a variety of image processing algorithms. Couple of projects used the same basic logic as yours, they were SIM Card Serial Number decoder and Number plate decoding of Chinese vehicles. Sim Card Serial number had to decode the numbers in a sim card, which were moving in a conveyor belt. The number had to be decoded every 100ms. Since the sim cards can be of different designs, there was an element where the text area had to be identified first. Then the decoding begins. There is a working GUI i'll be able to demonstrate. The other project of Chinese number plate was to identify the region of text and then process the text. In this case, the fonts can be different in the same number plate and the decoding algorithm had to understand and decode the number irrespective of the font. This was implemented in a customized Android system. Since there is NDA in this, i will not be able to demonstrate it to you. As a method to test the algorithm, i'll be able to show you MATLAB Simulation of a few invoice papers you send. This is just proof of concept. Feel free to ask any questions you have.
