Addition of Record Editing to Result List of Search Utility

User Case - The user performs a search and a table of the records matching is displayed. - The user clicks on the “date” field of one of the rows in the results table - A dialog box pops up containing all the fields for that record - The user makes their changes to the record and clicks save - The entry in the table of contents is updated, if appropriate Technical Requirements - The existing search facility has already been written, tested and deployed - The new editing facility must be modular so it can easily added or removed dynamically. (Needed javascript and CSS must be in their own files.) User Narrative This search tool exists and is mostly used for display purposes only. With your new code, when an administrator logs, we will add the files you provide to the HTML result list. In addition, we will also add this to each row: onclick=”edit(xxxxx);” The “xxxxx” is the MySQL record number for the record of that row. You will use this for your work. A different identifier can be added, if you choose. When the administrator clicks on the row they want to edit, the following will occur: - A javascript function called “edit(recno)” will be called upon clicking. - A PHP script will be called (by you) to obtain all information regarding this record. - A JSON structure will be returned to the caller containing all the information - A modal dialog box (from you) will pop up and present the values for the record - The user may alter the values - The user may click on a “save” button and (you) will submit an updated JSON structure - The modal dialog box closes - The entry on the table is updated, if appropriate Testing Requirements - The resulting work can be demonstrated by incorporating it into the sample HTML files provided. - The get and post (see below) to the SQL server can be pretended. The called PHP script should read and write simple text files for the demonstration of the completed project.
