Fundraising for Insulin Pump Science Project Prototype

My 16 year old son designed an insulin pump as part of a STEM research program he has been in for the past 2 years. He wants to patent and prototype the pump. The pump is basically a redesign of current market devices with a twist and some added features. His device is more ergonomic, reservoir is larger, battery life is longer, compatible with glucose level alert device and the device will be able to recalibrated to distribute alkaline fluid. RAIDD is a wearable regulated insulin and alkaline fluid distribution device that I would like to get patented. If person is diagnosed with diabetes they have to take insulin injections and monitor their glucose levels daily. I am in the initial stages of research which started when I was 14. The devices already exist as exterior applications but do not distribute or monitor alkaline fluids. My goal is to take the device to the next level and create a fully functional proof of concept prototype and eventually a lab created replacement for the human pancreas. People who use this device would not have to worry about the insulin tubes snagging on door knobs or the pump cases banging in to things causing damage or accidentally disconnecting. Hopefully the insulin reservoir will be larger, requiring less refills. Lastly, recalibrating the device to dispense alkaline fluid would be part of the redesign. Similar in theory to artificial heart valves or artificial lungs.
