I'm a Cobol expert! I've beeb working with Cobol for over 20 years and the last 10-15 years with Cobol and Dot net c# focus. This sounds like a data conversion effort and would like to suggest that SSIS be used after extracting the data from the legacy system files. Please provide me with the size and number of files that need to be converted to MS SQL server tables and the version of Cobol that was used in the legacy system? I have worked with many data conversion efforts from the mainframe to current data structures. I would like to thank you in advance for your careful consideration of my experience level. i can build best solution for this. i am having 7.5 years of experience in developing cobol DB2 application. let me give you the overview how i am going to finish this project. will write the cobol code to extract data and job control language to transfer this data from mainframe to pc and then a conversion task from a format to another. Reading the files in cobol and creating a corresponding csv file should be a stating point. these csv files then can be imported into SQL easily.
