I had a website on a shared hosted using cPanel and stuff. Now i bought a virtual machine that has Ubuntu 12.04 and i have installed Apache, Php, Mysql and Ftp(vsftpd). On my previous host i was using .htaccess to do some url rewrite for my web and i did what i wanted with a 2 or 3 little problems that didnt affect my website. As i read some articles i shouldnt use .htaccess if i have access on the main server configuration file. So what i want is to fix my .htaccess code (2 small problems) and adapt it to the server configuration file ([login to view URL] ?). Also some security adjustments (if any needed) for my web server will be good and if needed a few setup configurations. I will need immediate response and i dont have problem to pay a bit more to get the work done or for some extra work.

Hello, please check my profile for experience and feedback. Using htaccess isn't anything bad. It's just a way to allow configuration of the web server if you don't have access to the main config file. But it's also a nice way to have the configuration in the place where it actually "acts". So having your rewrite rules in a htaccess file in the folder where they are active isn't that bad ... Adding these rules to the main configuration file is just copy and paste.
