Hello,
My 20 years of background as an expert embedded systems developer has culminated in seven awarded patents primarily for wireless communications protocols for radio control systems as well methods to communicate between iPhone/Android and embedded IoT systems.
Rapid system prototyping with off the shelf prototyping boards can be accomplished in a short period of time. Having a diverse background in embedded development and IoT, I can provide services based on years of experience with embedded systems in harsh user environments (bus transportation industry, cell phones, hobby grade R/C vehicles, sensors, and medical devices).
I am familiar and have used prototyping and breakout boards from many companies including Arduino, Adafruit, Raytac, Microchip, Sparkfun, Nordic nRF52 product line, Digi XBEE3 Cellular, Bosch (IMU), and others. When necessary, custom prototyping PCBs are created with PCB CAD tools.
More than three years as lead engineer implementing both hardware and firmware of cellular NB/IoT systems using Digi XBEE3 technology resulted in launch of more than 100 systems now active in the bus transportation industry. Technologies in the product use text to speak conversion, solar charging, lithium iron batteries, low power implementation, MicroPython programming, watch dog timing, Bluetooth LE control, smart battery management, cellular NB/IoT, and much more.
I have excellent knowledge and experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies. I am flexible to project demands and shifting technologies and requirements. Having a diverse background in embedded development, I can provide services based on years of experience with embedded systems in harsh user environments (cell phones, hobby grade R/C vehicles, sensors, and medical devices).
Embedded technologies include concurrent use of pulse width modulation (PWM), analog to digital converters (ADC), digital to analog converters (DAC), Bluetooth LE (BLE), collection algorithms, control algorithms, motion sensing, temperature sensors, light sensors, and much more.
I have a BS degree in Engineering with over 25 hours of graduate courses in CS at Johns Hopkins University. I have both designed and managed development of numerous embedded systems including voice (audio) systems for the US Air Force, Motorola Pagers, NEC cell phones, Samsung GSM/GPRS smart phones, and hobby grade (very advanced) radio control vehicles at Traxxas. At Traxxas, receiving seven accepted patents, I provided hands on development and team management for all of the embedded hardware/firmware radio control technologies including spread spectrum radio control links, sensors (GPS, accelerometer, temperature, RPM, etc.), BLE link to iOS/Android phones with several awarded patents and additional patent applications still in process.
Thank you and I look forward to working with your company in the very near future.
Best regards,
Gary DeWitt
