About role
Investor Relations (IR) refers to the responsibility of managing communication between a company’s corporate management and its investors. An Investor Relations helps support releasing information, handling inquiries and meetings, providing feedback to management, and crisis management. Investor relations professionals focus on the company’s financial community, rather than its business customers or the general public. The IR department is also responsible for forwarding input from significant stakeholders of the company to management.
The material you would work on, may include quantitative financial documents such as annual/quarterly reports, but also qualitative information such as the company’s business model and strategic direction. Information is regularly disseminated through sections of the company’s website dedicated to IR, but also through events such as press releases and shareholder meetings.
Communication is also a two-way street; During times of crisis (financial or otherwise), the IR department will advise management with a goal to preserve the company’s relationship with its investors, as well as to mitigate any damage to share prices.
Typical responsibilities:
Data analysis
Presentations and data visualization
Financial modeling & research model creation
Information collection/preparation
Interacting with equity research analysts
Investor event preparation
Research of Tier 1 VCs firms, Real-estate hedge funds, Banks, and previous companies they’ve invested in
Managing the funnel potential investors in the CRM tool
Assistance to the rest of the team regarding the application to Y-Combinator startup accelerator in San Francisco
Communication via email
Setting up meetings, making sure calendars are in sync
Writing content, such as Executive summary, PowerPoint slides, emails, LinkedIn posts, Press Releases
Sending Investor Decks, and following-up regularly with Tier 1 investors
Market research (competitor landscape, banks, trusted sources of data), e.g. [login to view URL], [login to view URL], Crunchbase, Linkedin, AngelList, Apollo, Twitter, Linkedin
Providing regular feedback to the rest of the team, on various improvements of the Comms strategy, PR, content, product and UX
Managing Wiki pages
To provide up-to-date information about the company’s operations, financial statements to current and potential shareholders, as well as third-party equity research analysts.
