Microarray data analysis service - field study

TASK: MICROARRAY SERVICES MARKET STUDY The task consist on finding companies or institutions that provide DNA microarrray data analysis services. The input of the service is an excel file with the genetic data gathered at the microarray (Affimetrix is one of the leading microarray machines manufactured) The output of the service under study is a report where statistical data is analyzed, and different behavior on the expressions of genes are detected. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE TECHNICAL DETAILS OF THE ANALYSIS TO DO THE STUDY) The output of this task will be a small document (2,3 pages) consisting of 2 parts : 1. INTERNET RESEARCH from companies providing this service : describing between 10 to 15 companies / institutions providing these services (microarray bioinformatics data analysis). It is desirable that AT LEAST 2 or 3 companies providing this service are located or provide the service in SPAIN. Otherwise, the desired location would be in order of importance: Europe, USA, & Asia. 2. MACROECONOMIC DATA. Data that you’ll find googling and in the header of commercial reports / articles, etc. The report will include a TABLE were the following data is explained for the 10-15 companies: -Name of the company providing the service -Location of the company -Webpage -Revenue (if easily available) -Other products offered by the company. -Price of the service of microarray analysis -A sample of the microarray analysis report if available (in attachment), 1 extra USD will be paid for EACH sample report that you get from each company UP TO 10 USD. Sample reports should be from different companies, and should come from the commercial service provided to their customers. You can ask the companies to send you one, telling them that you are interested in the analysis. -Ways of sending the data for analysis (mail, email, USB stick, others ..) My understanding is that the price of this services is around $500 - $750 per analysis, although that amount can be different. The report should also include MACROECONOMIC data regarding the microarray market size (in million $ / EUR), leading microarray manufacturers (like Affimetrix), current market trends, etc. (IMPORTANT, EVERY DATA INCLUDED MUST BE DOCUMENTED WITH AN INTERNET LINK) ## Deliverables REQUIREMENTS •It is required a brief explanation of how are you going to tackle the task before starting •A mini-milestone sending me the data when you have 2 or 3 companies analyzed is required to check that you are on the good track.
