I need a macro that will convert 2 columns of data in an excel file (customer id, amount in $ and cents) into a formatted .txt file. The excel file will also contain a company name (up to 9 characters). The .txt file is a set format with: - a file name containing a day and time stamp (could be entered manually if not possible in macro) - a header record of 10 characters: 'H' and the company name with leading zeros to total 10 characters on the row. - a formatted row for each row in excel...has spaces, indents between the two columns (customer and amount in cents) - a total row containing a $ and a count total Thanks

Excel/macro developer since 1997. The task isn't hard. However, some clarifications are going to be needed. The file name: it will just have the time stamp (BTW, quite doable), no other text? The formatted row: the delimiter between fields cannot be both spaces and indents. Should be indents only. Pls clarify. The total row: I imagine it should have an indent between the 2 calculated numbers. Best would be to see a sample, if you have one. Can do. Regards, Svet.

I plan to complete the project via writing an Excel macro contained in a separate XLSM file. This approach makes further use of the macro very convenient by offering a Control sheet containing cells populated by the usual Open file and/or select folder dialogs to identify the current input and output files and hosting command buttons and other controls if necessary. Further use of macros, fixing of bugs and minor changes are included in the bid without any additional fees. Regards

From your explanation I understand that : If the excel file is in the following format Company Name: ABCDEF CustID Amt CT01 $22.25 CT02 $32.21 CT92 $47.00 CT03 $88.75 The output txt file shall be formatted like H000ABCDEF CT01 $22.25 CT02 $32.21 CT92 $47.00 CT03 $88.75 4 $192.21 Is this alright? If not if you explain the changes, I'll happily do the work for you. I did several short jobs like these in the past. I'll create a macro, so when you run it, all it shall ask for is the location you want to save the file, and when you chose the txt file shall be automatically saved in the corrects format. And yes, the file name shall contain the date and the time stamp. That's not a big issue at all. Hi Can you clarify the header is like "H00coyname" where H is fixed, 00 depends on coyname length, coyname is company name as provided in Excel file with or without space separator. The rest of the rows are fixed in field length, text right justified. The amount field will be "1234" when in Excel file it is $12.34. Please advise position of total $ amount Plase also advise rows count
