Hi! First of, thanks for helping out on this task! Here are the directions/steps: 1) Download excel and look at the columns and rows I made. 2) The task involves getting info for the companies on the spreadsheet. The columns are all titled appropriately and all you need to do is fill each cell out with the appropriate information you get from the internet/research. For the most part, you will be using [login to view URL] also info from major tech news sources is great: AngelList ([login to view URL]), VentureBeat ([login to view URL]), TechCrunch ([login to view URL]), Crunchbase ([login to view URL]), AllThingsD(htt ://[login to view URL]), BusinessInsider ([login to view URL]), Inc ([login to view URL]) 3) Please do 2 rows as a trial for the companies on the 500Startups Tab on the Excel Sheet . I'll give you feedback and then you can complete the rest. Doing this within the first day of being hired is important. Description of Columns which you will need to fill out: Investor Column: Look at [login to view URL] first to see if the company is listed. If so, look to see if they have investors. If not, leave blank. Investors are people that have invested in the startup . This info can be found on angel.co. Make sure to get all the investors if they are available. Advisors Column: Look at [login to view URL] first to see if the company is listed. If so, look to see if they have advisors. If not, leave blank. Advisors are people that advice the startup . Make sure to get all the advisors if they are available. Leave blank if no info is available. Description of Company: Obtain information from [login to view URL] , or pull from opening sentence in one of tech articles. Simple yet substantial explanation of what the company does is important here. Nothing more than 4 sentences lease. Business Model --how does the com any make money How are they thinking of making money. Traction or Key Metrics--information on how many users they have. Or how many partnerships do they have. Key info that helps us understand where they are is important. Key Quotes from Articles--what are the main takeaways from the article. Something simple and concrete and succinct. Press Article: Please find 2-4 recent articles that talk about the startup and what they have done . Some articles are just paragraph long so please avoid these if possible. For some companies that are really new you might not find elaborate articles. Still, try to get decent articles. Here's an example of a great article written about a startup [login to view URL] s-raises-1-5m-to-outsource-your-startups-back-office-and-eventually-any-back-office/ Founders Columns: For this section, most of the information can be found by googling their names. For example, if the name is Joe Klein, I would suggest to Google "Joe Klein Facebook + 'name of their startup.' The same for linkedIn and twitter. This yields more accurate searches. A little side-note, not every com any has 3 founders so just put as many founders as the company says it has. In the case that a company has more than 3, chose the CEO (chief executive officer), CTO (chief technical officer), and then either CMO (chief marketing officer), Biz-Dev, or Head of Product.
