I am a Registered Tax Agent in Australia with over 40 years of experience. I had been a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators and a Certified Practising Accountant for over 20 years. I have been providing training to some 10 qualified CAs and CPAs to acquire the 1,450 supervised training hours in securing registration with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) in Australia to become Registered Tax & BAS Agents. Some of my Associates will be ‘graduating’ upon completion of the required number of supervised hours this year, thus providing a chance for some new Associates to be trained. I am going to organize an Information Session for the prospective Associates on Friday, 14 Jul 2023, from 8 pm to 10 pm, Melbourne, Australian Eastern Standard Time when I shall be providing details on how I intend to: 1) assist the Associates in lodging the BAS and Tax Returns of their clients under my supervision; 2) provide suitable training and support to enable the Associates to eventually acquire the necessary training and experience for the purpose of registering as a Registered Tax or BAS Agent; and 3) to provide an attractive and equitable split of professional fees received from clients. This proposition enables our Associates to immediately start building their own practice so that they will be able to have a core of clients by the time they become qualified. This arrangement will be suitable for candidates who are prepared to plan ahead. Suitable candidates from an ethnic background who are not afraid to work hard are welcome to apply. They will be given preference. Applicants are advised that they should preferably possess an accounting background and must be ordinary residents of Australia. They are expected to earmark a reasonable capital outlay, which may be payable in a few comfortable monthly installments. Based on my experiences, I would say that a bookkeeper is responsible for supporting accountants by helping them complete standard accounting work like entering data, balancing financial statements and organizing financial records. I find that bookkeepers and accountants also help one another maintain the accuracy of their work by checking over financial statements and other items of importance. To add to that, at my previous job, the accountants in my department acted as mentor figures to me whenever I had questions about more advanced tasks and they really helped me enhance my skill
