Linux daemon (C or C++)

This should be a simple daemon program that will provide a FIFO file handle to be listed as a CustomLog entry in the Apache config file. For example: "CustomLog /path/to/your/fifo transfers" The log data will be in a delimited format, and only 3 separate fields. For example: "(unix timestamp),/path/to/[login to view URL],(bytes sent)" It will use TCP/IP to establish a persistent connection to a MySQL 4.x server, and to monitor this connection and reconnect as necessary. This connection will be over an ssh tunnel. ****If you would wish to integrate the ssh tunneling and monitoring into the daemon (with something such as libssh), that would be an ideal upgrade, and well worth additional work and payment.**** The primary necessity of this daemon is that in the event that it cannot connect to the MySQL server, it will need to buffer the log data either in memory, a file, or some other method to be submitted to the database *in order of the original entries* (e.g., true First In, First Out) when the connection is restored. This project will be SOLELY on a work-for-hire basis, and the contractor will be required to provide all source code, documentation, and working binaries. I will provide a system for you to develop on, and for the testing / QA process. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
