Commerce Website - CartWeaver 3 - Hierarchical Item Option Code Tweak

We are in the process of putting together a commerce website based on CartWeaver 3. We have encountered a problem with the item option selection process. As The code currently exists there is no way to make the option selection process hierarchical; this creates a problem for us because it allows customers to pick options that are not associated with any item we carry and simply giving them an error message indicating that the item does not exist. The new code should allow a high tier option to narrow the search in lower tiers, such that a customer cannot pick an option that may lead to a dead end without first selecting a basic option. it would be preferable if the code was capable of deciding which options belong on the highest tier based on the item option combination's and associated sku's that are currently associated with a given item.
