A first contractor for this project was insufficiently skilled, incompetently slow, and then sadly suffered a stroke literally days before it was hoped this project would finally be functional. He is out indefinitely now with essentially nothing delivered and about $10,000 of my money that is apparently forever gone. A second inept contractor totally flopped with some more of my money, and subsequently two more contractors supposedly skilled in this field(s) have also failed to deliver anything useful whatsoever toward this project. I am now in a position where the patent protection period is more than half over for this project with nothing to show for it and uncounted lost opportunities, and essentially back to square one again for finding a suitable contractor(s) to help. Both time and my funds are greatly depleted now and continually becoming even less with each passing day. This is a golf-related project that is needed very badly in order to help stop the clubfitting industry from continuing its longstanding, horrific, and embarrassing performance record and reputation. Some knowledge of and/or interest in golf and the game's future might be a plus but is not required and could actually hurt the project due to so much deeply embedded incorrect knowledge throughout the golf industry. This project comprises first tracking and logging golf club movement data before any part of one's golf swing is even begun (the pre-swing period). While the use of a portable wireless sensor(s) attached to a golf club might at first thought seem most viable for golfer purchase and use, I am still totally open to a video or other type of tracking system if more viable. A selected part(s) of the acquired pre-swing data then needs to be processed through an appropriate algorithm(s) to determine a rotation point location along the length of the club. Help is needed in areas including hardware selection and development and software application and algorithm development. A prototype with which to gather critical foundational testing data for early analysis is first required in the shortest time and at the least expense using off-the-shelf components if possible before the project can proceed further. The most prominent issue to date has been severe drifting when trying to determine golf club position when using an inertial sensor. Different contractors can be considered for hardware and software aspects for instance, so please note if you are a specialist desiring to contribute to any one particular skill described or if you consider yourself qualified to develop multiple aspects of the project. While it still needs editing/amending, a crude requirements document is attached. Even briefly scanning it as desired can lead to some crucial project details and links to investigate if contemplating whether to offer a quote, including a video and other supplemental information that some have said has helped toward understanding the project well. I ask anyone that is interested, willing, and able to skillfully help finally bring any part(s) of what is needed next for this project (apparently slightly ahead of its time) to fruition in as little time and cost as possible to please consider offering a quote and/or contacting me with any questions or comments. With other leading edge projects beyond this one already in early development and continual improvements in this project also expected over time, the potential exists for an enterprising and profitable longer-term relationship if desired. I can consider either project or hourly quotes. Thank you.

Hi, I am interested in this project. And I can stabilize the drifting data from the inertial sensor. I watched the video from dropbox. Actually, I had looked over this project in last Feb, if I remember correctly, had not place a bid because I did not understand clearly what you want. Also, I briefly read the document attached, but I am lost around the details. So, could you briefly and accurately tell me what you want to achieve? Also, explain briefly the Golf terms: what's rotation you are talking about? I can provide you both hardware as well as software. I am interested to know: events in the Golf and what to do with that event. For example: Waggle may be event (I checked youtube video to know what's waggle in golf!) and if waggle detected, what to do with it? If I understand this project clearly then I am confident that I will not let you down. Please reply if you consider. Thanks, Sam

Hello, This can be easily done using video processing. The rotation point can be calculated using video of swing and the length of the golf club as inputs. I can easily prototype the algorithm using Matlab and send you the same as a stand alone application. So you will not need Matlab to run the software. You may be able to sell it as a mobile phone app later. The video processing approach will be faster and cheaper than hardware approach. Regards EnggWorks

Hello, First of all I can only make and calibrate the hardware that will return a 3D orientation of the club, this can directly give you a 3D picture of the club at all given time. I see that you are in a hurry, and I dont want to delay you, so straight to the point: I have made 2 projects with 3D orientation in my past 1. A quadrotor that made it to a precision of <1deg and 2. A sensor hub just like that one that you need but for two sensors it also worked with <1deg precision. Detail about the second project like board and code can be seen in my portfolio. For your project I would highly recommend high end 3D sensors, since you need let's say <0.5deg precision. And this in 3D orientation is really hard, I have tried it and it is hard. So I can solve the task using this sensors: ATAVRSBIN1 from Atmel. They are high end, and with no filtering in my last project (the sensor hub) the precision was <1deg, if filtered, the data will be even better. However for the link to the PC, I would need to know if the cpu module will be on the club (integrating a small CPU + wireless communication module), or the sensor module will have wired connection to the main board (recommended since it will allow the use of standard boards etc. much faster, but it will be bulky). So, I can offer you just that piece, but I can prove that you will get it. Since you have already lost a lot of money, I will not take payment before the project is done (atleast my tasks). It seems not a simple project. Anyway, I would like to join. I come from Hong Kong and studied mathematics and information engineering there. It should help me for the algorithm development as well as the use of different wireless protocol or communication protocol. Currently, I am a master student in TUM, Germany, studying Biomedical Computing, and now is doing my master thesis at JHU, Baltimore. My master is mainly focus on image processing, so I have understanding on computer vision and tracking. I think I can help on it.
